About This Course

 

The WD Academy 2 year course is a fully funded professional training pathway over a 36-week academic year, designed for the next generation of dance artists in association with VLUK.

 

Learners study the RSL Extended Level 3 Diploma (equivalent of 3 A-Levels) in Creative & Performing Arts, a nationally recognised qualification that prepares performers for both higher education and direct entry into the professional industry.

 

This course is aimed at performers who aspire to:

    •    Dance professionally with artists in music videos, on tours, films, commercial projects and more

    •    Develop as choreographers and creative leaders

    •    Launch their own creative brands and independent careers

 

At WD Academy, we don’t just train dancers — we train artists.

 

Students receive elite-level training delivered by industry professionals across all street dance styles, alongside jazz, ballet, and musical theatre, ensuring they graduate as versatile, employable, and confident performers.

 

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

Year 1: Foundations of Professional Practice

 

In Year 1, learners focus on building strong technical, creative, and professional foundations. Students will:

    •    Develop core technique across street dance styles, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre

    •    Build performance skills through regular practical assessments

    •    Explore choreography and creative processes

    •    Gain an understanding of the professional performing arts industry

    •    Develop confidence, discipline, and rehearsal etiquette

    •    Begin building a professional mindset and work ethic

 

Year 2: Professional Development and Industry Readiness

 

Year 2 is focused on refinement, individuality, and career preparation. Learners will:

    •    Advance technical and performance ability across all styles

    •    Create and present original choreographic work

    •    Develop artistic identity and creative voice

    •    Prepare for auditions, performances, and professional opportunities

    •    Gain knowledge of self-employment, branding, and career pathways

    •    Complete final assessments aligned with industry expectations

 

 

Top-Up Course (Enrichment Programme)

 

Alongside the diploma, students have the opportunity to take part in the WD Academy Top-Up Course, an enrichment programme designed to enhance and elevate their training.

 

The Top-Up Course runs in addition to the guided learning hours of the Level 3 Diploma and offers extra elite training, workshops, and specialist skill development.

 

What the Top-Up Course Includes:

    •    Advanced classes and workshops with industry professionals and pioneers

    •    Elite performance and choreography training

    •    Exposure to real-world industry practices

    •    Specialist skills training including:

    •    DJing

    •    Music production

    •    Videography and creative content creation

 

The Top-Up Course also supports and deepens learners’ understanding of the diploma units, helping students apply their academic learning directly to practical, industry-based experiences.

💸 FUNDING:
OPTION 1
Our non-paying course covers all of the required hours for students to complete their extended level 3 diploma qualification (minimum 17 Guided Learning Hours Per Week).

OPTION 2
Our top-up course has an annual fee of £2,000. This can be spread across termly if required.

This course includes additional training & workshops with industry experts in various dance styles, training in special skills such as DJing, Music Production & videography, on top of the Extended Level 3 Diploma qualification for further training in the arts and preparation for a professional career or higher education.

➡️ Entry Requirements:

  • 4 GSCE's - Grade 4 and above. Including Maths and English.

  • If grade requirements have not been met- our course offers a resit in Maths and English.

  • A successful audition and interview with the head faculty at WD Academy​.
